Education saves lives and can build a better future for the most vulnerable.

Only together.

Aide et Action is appealing to all its Partners worldwide – Individuals, Companies, Foundations and Public Institutions- to join forces now to invest further in education and respond to the covid-19 crisis in a sustainable way.

Our partners

Education is at the heart of Aide et Action’s Response and Recovery Plan to overcome the COVID-19 crisis.

The world is facing an unprecedented global crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic impacting Health, Economy, Human Rights and Education. 184 countries have closed educational institutions in an attempt to contain the pandemic. As a result, 1.53 billion learners have no longer access to education, which is 87.6% of the world’s total enrolled learners (1).

Currently, all 8325 schools that Aide et Action works in are closed. The crisis has directly affected the education and livelihoods of 1911194 disadvantaged and vulnerable participants, including 950170 children and youth, of which almost 50% are girls, and for whom the impacts of COVID-19 will be particularly acute due to less access to technology and remote learning and fewer opportunities for education outside of school.

To make sure that the gains already achieved under Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4) are not wasted and the vulnerable and marginalized communities can continue to live in dignity and good health, Aide et Action has designed a two-phase Response and Recovery Plan and has started to adapt its projects.

We must make sure that the communities we support can preserve their livelihoods and continue to have access to quality education.

Our current actions to protect the most vulnerable

We manage hygiene education and first aid, learning continuity and prevent the dropping out from school and education systems of the most vulnerable.

South Asia

In India, our main activity concerns  migrant workers. Thanks to our advocacy work, 5000 migrant families have been provided with ration kits and transport solutions allowing them to get back to their homeland. Also, we ensure remote learning, translate prevention materials into local languages, promote organic home farming for confined families, distribute food and handcraft masks.

Southeast Asia

In  Cambodia, we transformed the traditional “tuk-tuks” (motorized tricycles) that we usually use as mobile libraries into mobile health stations! Also, we carry out hygiene education and prevention campaigns, install hand-washing facilities, distribute essential supplies, food and books to school children and their families in 200 remote villages

West Africa

In Togo, our teams are currently carrying out information and prevention activities in 11 villages across the country. This awareness is practiced “door to door”, in order to be able to reach all families. This initiative is seen as essential by communities that are sorely lacking in information about the disease and the means to protect themselves from it.

Aide et Action’s Education Response Fund to COVID-19: what for and how does it work ?

The fund has been created to support the organisation’s Response and Recovery Plan using education as one of the most powerful tools to save people’s lives today and build a better sustainable future..

Aide et Action needs urgent financial support to manage its Response and Recovery plan and is appealing to all Companies, Corporate Foundations, Foundations, Philanthropists, Institutions… worldwide, willing to take action in 16 countries of intervention out of 19 where it operates: India, Sri Lanka, Nepal in South Asia; Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam in Southeast Asia; Benin, Togo, Guinea, Senegal, Madagascar, Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger, in Africa; Romania en Europe.

Aide et Action aims to raise 15 million euros in two phases, of which 8,8 million euros in a first round that will take place between May and July 30th, 2020.

This first phase will allow us to deliver urgent prevention and health education activities, first aid and ensure learning continuity in the 16 countries listed above.

We will provide basic needs such as water, food, soap and sanitary items; tablets, computers and mobile phones, especially to reinforce teachers’ training to help them better fight dropout from school, especially of girls.

Until the second round of calls for donations takes place from September 2020 to December 31st, 2021, we will be able to fine-tune the Recovery phase of our action plan focusing on building a longer-term approach to limit the negative impacts of crisis on the access to education and on the livelihoods of the most vulnerable and marginalised groups.

Aide et Action will embed its existing programming and main projects into the recovery phase to support those affected in a sustainable way. These further investments will help to fill key gaps exacerbated by the crisis.

Aide et Action guarantees to its donors that their grant is used in compliance with the organization’s needs and both internal and external financial standards. The organisation monitors and delivers a quarterly reporting to donors continuously measuring the impact of new emergency activities, ongoing projects’ adaptation in the Response and Recovery phases. After Action Review will also be delivered.
